Welcome to the Bay Area Disc Youth Ultimate Leagues page.
The new Youth Spring League will take place from March to April in 7 different locations to give opportunities to as many Bay Area youth players and teams as possible to join in on the fun.
The league will have High School and Middle School “Open” divisions (open to girls and boys aged 11 to 18; for other ages please inquire).
The league is for players of any skill level; we especially encourage the participation of informal groups or new school programs looking for more opportunities to play Ultimate. We will focus on fun and skill development more than on game results. At all times, we will emphasize Spirit Of The Game.
We will start Saturday March 10th in Larkspur (Marin) using "Redwhirled" as the inaugural event!
Look ahead: The weekend after Spring League ends we will host the "Spaghetti Western" Youth tournament (April 28-29, Morgan Hill). It's the perfect way to test your team after the Spring League and before States!Teams that sign-up for the full Spring League get a 10% discount on the Team Fee for this tournament!
Registration will accommodate both school-based teams and individual players, who will be grouped together in pickup teams. We are very flexible: teams can play the full league (expect to play a minimum of 4 weekends) or request to play fewer or even just one session. This is a first come, first serve league.
As a Bay Area Disc event, USAU membership is NOT required but in order to be able to participate in the league, your parent/guardian needs to fill out and sign the Liability Waiver and the Medical Authorization Form for you, if they haven’t done so already (previous camps/leagues/YCC).
Option A: Team Sign-ups: If you have a team ready to go, the fee is $250 for the full league or $95 for each single date. Just send an email containing the following information to the League Director at youthdivision (at) bayareadisc (dot) org: - Team name - Location/School - Coach/Captain contact (name, email, cell) - Assistant Coach/Parent contact (name, email, cell) - Any league dates the team will NOT be available (if you register for the full season) or the specific date you request. Once your bid is confirmed, the next step will be to send a list of players and pay the fee by check.
Option B: Individual Player Sign-ups: If you don’t have a team but you want to play, we will help small groups merge together, place you on an existing team or create a new pickup team. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and grow your skill set. The Individual Player Fee is $35. To register as an individual, create a user account, and then follow our easy 3-step registration process. Parents, if you registered your child(ren) for our summer camps or Winter League, you can reuse the same Parent Profile as before.
Both HS and MS divisions will have games during each date. Teams can expect to play 3-4 games each session they attend. The league format and length of each game will vary depending on the number of teams
The Middle School division may play a 7-on-7 or a 5-on-5 fomat with smaller fields depending on numbers of players. We will consider having them play separately as well as mixing teams together, to reduce pressure and give the kids the opportunity to learn from each other. We’ll also use the Spirit Circle at the end of games to encourage dialogue between teams.
If you have any questions, please write to the League Director at youthdivision (at) bayareadisc (dot) org.
